Just like Western Star owners and operators, Truck Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) are big fans of our X-Series, too. And no wonder. We designed the X-Series for easy body upfitting, whether the end product is a dump truck, concrete mixer, or crane truck. Choose from 8-, 13-, and 23-gallon capacities, all mounted in the most forward position for consistent fill and fender gaps.
Our standard battery box mounting inside the cab and under the passenger seat to optimize open frame space. Battery boxes can also be mounted between rails or frame-mounted.
Air tanks can be mounted below the battery box, inside or below frame rail, or perpendicular to the frame. Aluminum models are available for additional weight savings.
X-Series fuel tanks have a 25-inch diameter with capacities from 60 to 150 gallons. They can be mounted either fore or aft. Rectangular, left-hand fuel tanks with raised mounting are available for belly plow applications in 60-, 80- and 90-gallon sizes.
Factory-installed split hydraulic/fuel tanks are available to reduce upfit time and maximize frame space.
Our standard air dryer mounting location helps increase frame space behind the cab.
Count on easier truck equipment integration for applications, such as mixer, that require power using rear engine PTO.
Transition plate options are available for easier upfit of mixer bodies.

Western Star's proprietary CHEC Tool is the interface to the X-Series programmable controllers, enabling TEMs and dealers to view and modify electrical configurations.
CHEC gives you the power to customize inputs and outputs and change parameters within minutes — entirely within your organization – reducing upfit time and making the customization process user friendly. Creating unique dash layouts is just one example of the possibilities.
Standard templates can be created, enabling you to select pre-existing configurations based on different applications or customers.
