Western Star Trucks showcased the newest star in its family, a powerful new Optimus Prime truck at the 2014 Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS). The truck, which will star as the heroic lead in Paramount Pictures' upcoming "Transformers: Age of Extinction" movie, will be on display at the Western Star booth (#30185). Show attendees had the opportunity for an exclusive sneak peek at the all new Optimus Prime.

Developed specifically for the new Michael Bay film "Transformers: Age of Extinction," many styling cues were leveraged from a new Western Star on-highway vehicle that will be unveiled in fall 2014. The new Western Star truck will be badged as a 5700.

In addition to Optimus Prime, Western Star unveiled the “Design Our Star” show truck, built from the ground up through social media channels. The 4900EX tractor was presented to Todd Spencer, executive vice president of Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA). The truck will be used to pull the OOIDA “Spirit of the American Trucker” tour trailer to various events throughout the year. Also on display at the show, a 4900SF dump, a 4700SB day cab, and a 6900XD heavy haul.

The Mid-America Trucking Show is more than a tradeshow. It is the annual forum for the heavy-duty trucking industry, providing face-to-face interaction between industry representatives and trucking professionals. MATS is where the industry comes together, where attendees network with Fortune 500 companies, where media outlets from around the world go to report on the business of trucking, and where trucking business gets done. It's common knowledge that if you want to conduct business in the trucking industry, you have to be at MATS.
